The BMI Student Composer Awards is an annual competition open to young composers actively engaged in the study of classical music.
Prizes totaling $20,000 and ranging from $500 to $5,000 will be awarded at the discretion of the judges. The judges shall have the right to determine the amount of each award to be given and the number of such awards to be made, as well as the right to make no awards or to make awards totaling less than such full amount. The William Schuman Prize will be given to the score judged “most outstanding” in the competition. The Carlos Surinach Prize is awarded to the youngest winner in the competition.
